It’s quite possible that BattleLore wouldn’t exist without the legacy of Dungeons & Dragons, and I’m sure many BattleLore players once played D&D when they were younger, and perhaps still do. Gary Gygax, co-creator of Dungeons & Dragons, passed away this morning, aged 69.
I’ve written a small tribute to the man on my personal blog.

The BattleLore rules summary has been updated to v2.1. Some corrections and suggestions by Gerald Uitz have resulted in a more accurate document. There’s a double-sided basic rules summary, then single-sided summaries of the Epic and Call to Arms rules, then a page of game variants, including Reluctant Allies and Medieval Lore rules.
Not only that, but Gerald has also translated this latest version into German.
As always, print in colour on high quality card, laminate and trim for best results. And don’t forget to print at the 100% setting.

The six adventures that come with BattleLore: Call to Arms have been added to the official adventures section of the BattleLore website. These are terrain and background setups to which you add your own armies using the Call to Arms rules. You need to be a registered owner of BattleLore to enter.

From the DoW forums: A few reports are coming in of the symbols on the BattleLore dice rubbing off after only a few plays. DoW is taking this problem seriously and “… will be making an announcement regarding the replacement dice on Monday or Tuesday at the latest … We are very unhappy with this, as you can all imagine, and rather embarrassed. We will make it right, though … sorry for the disappointment.”
In the meantime, if you have a new copy, I recommend an easy solution which will at least stave off the damage: giving them a coat of spray matt varnish. I just did this to my own dice. Be careful not to spray them in hot sunlight, which can cause the varnish to dry strangely, follow the instructions on the can carefully, and allow to dry thoroughly between light coats (we at battleloremaster.com do not, of course, take responsibility for your results!).
